FIGHTS PRECEDED ALLEGED ATTACK ON WOMAN, SAYS NEIGHBOUR

-

A Lautoka couple at the centre of an investigation into an alleged knife attack always have loud fights, says a neighbour.

Samuel Sami, who is a good friend of the couple, said there was a violent fight on Friday afternoon.

The man allegedly stabbed his wife with a knife in their Tokovuci settlement home in Tomuka. When neighbours arrived at the house they found her lying in a pool of blood. Her husband, a garderner had fled.

Mr Sami, 29, said: “They always fight and yell but this time the man allegedly attacked her with a cane knife.

“They come here to our home for grog. We are good friends and every time they fight, they are always quick to reconcile but this time it went really bad and we just feel sorry for their child.

“When the people start coming the man ran away. There was so much blood. “The couple were due to vacate the house and move to their new home in a week. “The house belongs to the man’s brother. They were getting ready to vacate and they were packing. The new owners are to move in next week.”

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the incident saying that a 38-yearold woman was rushed to hospital still in critical condition. Neighbours heard her yelling before the husband fled.

“A neighbour heard the victim crying for help and saw the suspect fleeing the scene and found the victim lying on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood,” she said.

“We have yet to arrest the suspect and Police are continuing with investigations”
