Families thank Govt for rebuilt school

- LUSI BANUVE Edited by Percy Kean

Rajesh Prasad could not contain his joy by thanking Government at the re-opening of the Naria Primary School, Rakiraki yesterday.

The 53-year-old grandparent was among families of students who echoed the same sentiments. Mr Prasad said: “So many times we see other schools getting help and today it is my grandchildren’s turn and I am so glad I can be here to see this event.”

“This is a small school and many times we can be overlooked but when we heard that Government was going to help us we were very happy. Seeing the Minister of Education here is a great blessing for us.

“This Government has done a lot for us and for Fiji.”

Attorney-General and Minister for Education, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, who was chief guest, commended teachers. He called on everyone to appreciate what teachers did in the classrooms.

“In the past few weeks there’s been alot of news items in the media regarding teachers,” he said.

“I said a few days ago it is very important for the Ministry of Education to understand that the core clients of the ministry are the teachers.”

“Because it is the teachers who deliver the service of the Ministry of Education and who are serving these young people.”

“Government is focussed on investing in the future, and the young people in front of us here are the future.”
