Kontiki Backs Triples Champs
The Fiji Bowling received a $5,000 boost from Kontiki Finance for the National Triples Bowling Championship yesterday.
The two- day event gets underway tomorrow at the Suva Bowling Club with 14 men and six women’s team competing for the prize money.
Speaking at the press conference, Kontiki Finance chairman Daryl Tarte said they were grateful for the opportunity to sponsor the National Triples Bowling Championship.
“It is an honour for Kontiki Finance to sponsor the tournament which is coming up in this weekend. Bowling is one of the oldest sports in Fiji and certainly with Suva Bowling Club,” Tarte said. “So, we are really grateful to come on board and assist the tournament in any way we can. “Well, for us at Kontiki Finance we are just in existence for the past two years and it is a very new company, with new ideas and it has been very successful because it has a very innovative policy. “Previously, we have sponsored the Police rugby team for the Sukuna Bowl, national golf championship and so we are gearing up to sponsor more sporting teams in Fiji.”
Club trustee Gary Barnett thanked Kontiki Finance for their support. “With the sponsorship from Kontiki Finance I am confident the various teams will be very competitive in trying their best to win the prize money.
“Also, for the Fiji reps this tournament will be a great platform for them to prepare for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Australia, Gold Coast, Australia on April 4 -15.”
