PRAISE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS

-

Provincial Administrator Lau Eliki Masa has commended Government officials for carrying out their work diligently despite the current unfavourable weather in villages affected by Tropical Cyclone Keni in Kadavu. Mr Masa is responsible for overseeing assessment works carried out by Government officials on the ground in Kadavu. On the ground are officials from various ministries who arrived on the island over the weekend on board the MV Iloilovatu and MV Sigavou. “As you know weather conditions are unfavourable at the moment. It’s been raining and as you know most of these villages our officials are visiting experienced strong winds,” Mr Masa said. “But I want to thank them for their commitment in making sure that all villages in Kadavu are assessed and that hopefully we meet our one-week assessment target by the end of this week.”

Mr Masa made special mention of all security forces personnel on the ground assisting with works such as soldiers, Police and Corrections officers.

“The unfavourable weather prohibits our movement to other villages considering the fact that Kadavu is a huge island and villages are isolated from each other,” he added.

Mr Masa said they have used all their resources to deploy all Government officials to the 75 villages on the island throughout this week, including 15 outboard engines.
