Twenty-one-year-old Pasemaca Funaki was one of the 79 navy cadets who took part in a passing-out parade at Togalevu, 17 kilometres from Suva. To undergo navy cadet training, she had to leave her law studies at the University of the South Pacific, a decision she said she never regretted.

She is happy that she is now a member of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) family. Ms Funaki said after the passing-out parade yesterday that she would go back to USP to continue her law studies.

Her father is Warrant Officer Sitiveni Jitoko, the Fiji Navy RSM.
