Now they are calling it freebies and Honourable Gavoka is saying that next Government won’t give them freebies… He should be thankful to those civil servants who worked till 4-5am this morning (Thursday) from 9am (Wednesday)

Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum retorted to SODELPA MP Viliame Gavoka who kept on raising in Parliament that people were lining up for freebies and that they have been at Lawaqa Park for CARE for Fiji assistance for hours.

They are caught in a time warp and unfortunately their political capital is caught in that time warp

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum regarding the Opposition

There are still people who leave on the sly on tourist visas to work there (Australia and New Zealand).

Employment Minister Jone Usamate responded to SODELPA MP Mere Samisoni who told the house that her house help had gone overseas for six weeks to work where her husband was working for three months. Mr Usamate said no one leaves on seasonal worker scheme for six weeks or three months. Seasonal Workers Scheme runs for six months and not for three months or six weeks and that those who leave for such short term may be working outside of the scheme.
