Leaders promote co-operation

China would like to make joint efforts with Russia to strengthen high-level trust and expand - in all areas to pass on the China-Russia friendship to more generations, President Xi Jinping said on Friday.

He made the remark while meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing. Before the talks, Mr Xi hosted a grand ceremony to welcome Mr Putin, who will attend the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation Summit in Qingdao, Shandong province.

The two leaders agreed to uphold the two countries’ traditional friendship and strategic co-operation, expand and deepen co-operation in all areas.
