A 20-year-old man was presented at the Labasa Magistrates Court yesterday charged with one count of sacrilege.

The accused, Iosefo Aumaile, is alleged to have broken into the Assemblies of God Church at Naodamu in Labasa at the weekend and stole musical related equipment.

Magistrate Seinileba Levaci said this was an indictable offence and asked the accused whether he wanted his case to be called at the Magistrate or High court. Aumaile of Naodamu, Labasa, replied he preferred Magistrates Court. Police prosecutor Constable Vishal Varma told the court that Aumaile had pending cases before the court and suggested that he be remanded at the Labasa Corrections Centre at Vaturekuka. Magistrate Levaci remanded the accused and adjourned the case for mention to June 26, 2018.
