The Minister for Fisheries Semi Koroilavesau yesterday described the late Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Fisheries Sanaila Naqali as a quiet, well-disciplined and very hardworking person.

“In a short span of time that I have worked with him at the Ministry of Fisheries, I have known him as very diligent, was always prepared to answer any questions that I have about the operation of the ministry and all other technical issues on fisheries, management and operations,” he said.

He said Mr Naqali was always supportive and the best advisor to him when he joined the Ministry of Fisheries 16 months ago.

“I was completely surprised on his level of technical knowledge and even operational and administrative skills knowledge and abilities on the fisheries sector,” he said.

The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto described the navy man as a quick and dedicated worker.

“In the Fiji Navy he was a good and competent sailor.” He said he was a good narrator and would make people laugh through his stories.

Mr Naqali was a maritime cadet before moving to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Navy division and then joining the Ministry of Fisheries.

Mr Naqali was laid to rest at Vatuwaqa Cemetery. He is survived by wife Mrs Emali Koti Lewenilovo Naqali and children Tevita Kunacawaitakali and Remi Vanibaravi Naqali.
