Eid calls for a change in our lives: Akbar
Rosy Akbar
The following is the message on Eid celebrations by the Minister for Health and Medical Services, Rosy Akbar.
Ni sa Bula vinaka, namaste and As-Salaam-Alaikum.
A blessed Eid Mubarak to all our fellow Fijians. The celebrations of Eid is a great opportunity to strengthen bonds, appreciate varied perspectives and celebrate unity in diversity.
It is an opportunity for us to reflect on our lives and the changes we can bring about to become better individuals.
It calls for simple changes in our lives, the way we see ourselves and nurture the values of care.
Eid celebrations cultivates peace among everyone to work in unity for a universal prosperity. We are certainly privileged to live in a country such as ours, we have so much to celebrate. Given the cultural diversity, there are a lot of opportunities to learn from each other and strengthen unity and broaden our knowledge and appreciate each other’s cultures that allows us to have a very peaceful coexistence amongst our societies. Regardless of whichever culture we belong to, we need each other and we are proud of that and that is the very Fiji, the Fijian Government is trying to create, One Fiji One people.
Let this Eid be a season for us to move forward in love and unity, allowing the spirit of peace and harmony into our lives. Let’s all work together to advocate unity among each other and continue to cultivate the values of respect, gratitude and compassion in our daily lives.
On this special occasion of Eid, the key message is for all to unite and embrace the multiculturalism and commit to build a better, unified nation and stronger Fiji.
This occasion portrays for all to know, that the spirit of joy, happiness, love, and courage breaks all barriers and looks at people as people.
As we celebrate Eid, let this be an opportunity for us to reach out by providing a helping hand to those that genuinely need our assistance. This is a special occasion that brings with it the opportunity to build trust, peace, honesty and unity among all.
Whilst we partake in the Eid celebrations, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services would like to advice the families to take care of their health to ensure that they live a healthy and productive life to help us reduce the increasing cases of Non-Communicable Diseases in Fiji. So choose to eat healthy and be aware of your health, for it’s the healthy families and healthy communities that make a strong foundation for building a prosperous nation.
To our Muslim Communities, friends and families, let us pledge to work unitedly for the peace, progress and prosperity of our nation. With this, I would like to convey the best wishes for this Eid celebrations to all the Fijian friends and families in Fiji and abroad.
