Sharks, Rabbitohs in final

Expect fireworks when the Blues Gas Police Sharks take on Ravoravo Rabbitohs in the 2018 Vodafone Cup National Finals at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka this Saturday.

This was after the Sharks, who won the Cup in 2015 put on a sterling performanc­e, as they came from behind to score three tries in the second half to record a 16- 10 win over KBL Saru Dragons.

The Dragons had taken a 10-0 lead at the breather with tries to winger Kinijoji Kamakara with Samisoni Navatu making his mark with a successful­ly conversion.

The Sharks regrouped in the final 20 minutes and scored tries to Josua Roko, Lui Koroi and Asaeli Boseiwaqa while Joe Katonibau was successful with two conversion­s in their effort to book a spot in the final.

Sharks manager Akuila Rokotua said, “We expected a tough game. Our aim was to play 80 minutes of rugby league and we did play to the final whistle.”

In the other semifinal Rabbitohs defeated Army Bears 8-4 in a close encounter. Army’s Ilikena Niumataiwa­lu kicked the first penalty as they took a 2-0 lead. Timoci Namotokula levelled the scores to 2-2 after converting a penaty.

A few moments later centre Etuate Guivalu scored a in the corner as Rabbitohs led 6-2 at the breather.

In the second spell Namotokula extended the lead to 8-2 with another penalty before Niumataiwa­lu narrowed the deficit to 8-4 with his second penalty.

Rabbitohs coach Sitiveni Vuniyayawa said: “It was a good game. The boys did well and we are working to win the final.’

U14: USP Islanders 8- 12 Ravoravo Rabbitohs, West Storm 18- 10 Saru Dragons,

U16: West Storm 8 – 10 Saru Dragons, Nadera Panthers 10 - 14 Namoli West Tigers, U18: West Dolphins 20-9 Yasawa Saints, West Storms 10- 4 USP Islanders,

Reserve: Burenitu Cowboys 12- 16 Sabeto Roosters, Lautoka Crushers 16- 18 Nadera Panthers.
