ANOTHER VUNIVALU CLAIM
So the issue of claimants to the chiefly title of Vunivalu is not over yet, it seems.
We know the four subclans in the Tui Kaba clan – Mataiwelagi, Naisogolaca, Qaranikula and Muaidule. We know they are supposed to meet to nominate and unanimously select the Vunivalau candidate.
Will this be Ratu Epenisa Cakobau now that fellow claimant Ratu George Kadavulevu Cakobau has died?
We can now reveal someone else is going around with a letter with the Native Lands Commission stamp claiming he is also eligible for the Vunivalu title.
The late Ratu George’s letter challenging Ratu Epenisa’s claim for the title resulted in an intervention by the Native Lands Commission to stop the installation. This letter is still with its Commissioner Ratu Vananalagi Vesikula.
Will there soon be another letter on his desk? Watch this space.
MOVING IN ON JUICE
Freshly-made sugar cane and coconut juice is doing a roaring trade at MHCC for a small-scale entrepreneur. It seems that one of the biggest local conglomerates has taken notice.
The big boys are now planning to get into the business on a large national scale by setting up juice-making machines throughout the country. One feels for the entrepreneur who came up with the idea if he is pushed out by the big boys.
