Parliamentarians look at executive health services, delegation led by Speaker of Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni
AFijian delegation has visited two top Philippines hospitals and looked at Executive Health Services they offer.
Speaker Dr. Jiko Luveni led her entourage which consisted of parliamentarians Alexander O’Connor, Mikaele Leawere and Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan Isikeli Mataitoga.
They visited Cardinal Santos Medical Centre and St Lukes International Hospital, both in the Philippines capital, Manila. The purpose was to view their Executive Health Management Services offered to overseas VIP dignitaries and people in general.
Several of our Pacific neighbours, including Papua New Guinea, have in the past sent their Members of Parliament to the two medical institutions for health management reviews and treatment.
St Luke’s is recognised as one of the leading and most respected health care institutions in the Philippines and is on par with most advanced hospitals around the world.
Cardinal Santos Medical Centre is a hospital run by the Catholic Church and is also one of the most successful hospitals in the Philippines.
Both hospitals are well known for their expertise in Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology and other rehabilitative medicine.
It was noted that one of the Fiajian Teachers’ Unions also send their members to Cardinal Santos medical centre for special treatment. FijiCare health insurance has also used Cardinal Santos for cardiac (heart) and oncology (cancer) treatment.
The Fijian delegation is currently in the Philippines to attend the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum on Global Health.
