JAMAICAN FOOTBALLER HORACE JAMES TO BOOST NADI STRIKE FORCE
Jamaican footballer Horace James will boost Jack’s Nadi strike force in the 2018 Courts Inter-District Championship which kicks off at the ANZ Stadium, Suva tomorrow.
The 33- year old arrived into the country yesterday to strengthen the side after the Green Machine loses three players to Nadi and Suva in the transfer window. Nadi last won the tournament in 2002 James who plays for the Three Kings FC in New Zealand can’t wait to play for the Green Machine.
“I am looking forward to play for Nadi in the IDC after being contacted by a diehard fan of the jetsetters,”James said.
“I scored a lot of goals as a striker and all I need are good midfielders.” James was born in Port Maria, Jamaica. He turned professional at the age of 16.
In his early 20s a scout contacted him to move to England but he opted for Germany.
He has played in professional league in USA, Canada and Malaysia before playing in New Zealand.
Another NZ-based rep Imraan Shah who plays as a midfielder, was part of the Nadi’s campaign in the Pacific Cup is expected to arrive today.
Nadi FA president Javed Ahmed said that James is part of the 22 players listed for the IDC campaign.
“After losing three keys players to Lautoka and Suva in the transfer window Jack’s Nadi acquired the services of James and Shah,” he said. Meanwhile, Jacks Nadi will be co-sponsored by Professional Valuation Ltd at the 2018 Courts IDC.
Ahmed thanked director Sanjay Kirpal for coming on board to support the association.
“Sanjay is vice-president of Nadi Football and has been supporting the Green Machine for many years.
He also thanked other sponsors such as Fairdeal, Esy Kool Australia, M Iqbal Investment, AAAK Group and KK’s Hardware who all have come on board to support Nadi’s IDC campaign.
Ahmed has called on the fans to come and support the team in Suva. Qasevakatini has joined Suva while Afraz Ali and Zainal Ali have joined Lautoka Blues.
Since the formation of the Nadi FA in 1937, the Green Machine has played in 24 finals and won six titles in 1969, 1971, 1974, 1998, 1999 and 2002.
