Rakuro Daunivavana is ready to face the undefeated Vanuatu knockout specialist Roy Ser on October 20 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

They will feature in the super welterweight contest in the Best Boxing Promotion main supporting bout over eight rounds.

The 22-year-old originally from Buca Bay, Cakaudrove is training at the Buca Bay Boxing Club in Labasa.

Three boxers who are training with Daunivavana will also appear in the programme which features Franco Fraser and Sebastian Singh in the main event.

They are Vilisoni Tigarea, a doctor at Labasa Hospital, Rupeni Roko, a schoolteacher and farmer Saula Rararalevu Junior. “Every match is important and I am confident I will win by knockout,”Daunivavana said.

“I am physically and mentally fit and have what it takes to win the fight.”

If he wins he gets an opportunity to fight overseas next year.

“I am a professional boxer since 2015,” he said.

“I had three wins, two losses and two draws.” In his last fight, Daunivavana stopped hard hitting Krishna Mudaliar in the first round. He has also drawn with Singh and Ronald Naidu of Mulomulo Boxing Club.

NEW TITLES ARRIVE

Meanwhile, Boxing Commission of Fiji chairman Bulutani Mataitawakilai confirmed that new Fiji titles have arrived last month.

“BCF is still going through several processes with Post Fiji before they can get hold of them,” he said.

“The titles are of international standard and will be owned by BCF.” Mataitawakilai said BCF would be releasing the boxers ranking in the coming weeks after they consult managers and clubs before the endorsement by the board.

It is understood that BCF is going to declare all weight divisions vacant since some current title holders have been inactive and are finding it difficult to make the weight.

He also urged on boxing fans to be at Prince Charles Park on October 20 to support our upcoming professional boxers.
