Air Pollution Kajal Chandra, Suva

Air is a precious resource that many of us take for granted. It is essential for our bodies to live and without it we cannot survive.

In order to stop air pollution and make our environment healthy and air pollution free, we should use public modes of transportation to reduce pollution and try to make use of carpooling. Also, understanding the concept of 3R's which are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle helps to make the environment clean and reduce the risk of getting pollution on the air.

Additionally, switching off fans and lights when you are going out and emphasis on the use of clean energy such as solar, wind and geothermal which will go a long way to curb to curb air pollution. We can also save the environment from degradation by reducing the amount of fossil fuels to be burned.

I urge Fijians to make a positive change to your environment so that we all can be healthy at all times.

Celebrating Constitution Day Avenai Serutabua, Nabukelevu Village, Serua

There is something to celebrate – our Constitution. On September 7, 2013, Fiji's delegates signed the historic document that would shape and influence Fiji.

In order for Fiji's future generations to have a better respect for the Constitution and laws, we as a society must strengthen the need to become better acquainted with its content and significance. Helping young students learn about the Constitution is not that easy given the limited resources of many of our local schools.

However, I hope that all schools participate in celebrating our nation's founding by teaching about the rights and protections contained within this amazing document.

It is my belief, as a concerned youth of this nation, that we must not only educate our youth, but also re-educate ourselves in order to put into historical perspective the true, original intent of the founding principles of the Constitution.

These principles have allowed us Fijians to realise and experience freedom and prosperity. If we permit sedition of the original intent of the Constitution, we run the risk that we will lose the freedoms which have served us so well.

Let celebrate this auspicious event and Happy Constitution Day to us all!

Constitution Day Savenaca Vakaliwaliwa, Suva

It is heart-warming to read that Northerners are celebrating the National Constitution Day for the first time this year at Subrail Park in Labasa (FS 7/9). For decades, Fijians in the North have had to watch national celebrations held in Suva on televisions, listen over the air or read about it in the papers. Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and his team were out there to celebrate our Constitution and all of the rights and protections it affords us all.

From the sea of blue and the Fijian flag, at first glance, one could easily assume that it was a FijiFirst Party rally, but we all know that the election date has not been announced and no election campaign is being done.

So Friday September 7 was our National Constitution Day and some opposition forces who live under our current Constitution do not want to embrace it, saying it was forced upon them and that once they come into power, they will bring the old Constitution back.

The million dollar question is, "Which Constitution is best for us Fijians as a whole, this current one or the old one? Which Constitution safeguards the iTaukei land and natural resources better, this one or the old one?

As a Christian nation, which Constitution more reflects the love of God in treating all Fijians the same, on a level playing field?

Your answer to the above questions should help you cast your one vote in the upcoming 2018 General Election.

Constitution Day holiday Sukha Singh, Labasa

We have had so many constitutions since our Independence in 1970s, but for our latest we have been granted a holiday.

Honestly, I haven't read any of the constitutions and in no position to say which one is the best .

I would like the Government to have a Constitutional Office where we can direct our queries if we do not understand any particular clauses in the constitution rather than walking out of Parliament.

Anyway I thank the Government for the holiday and celebrations in Labasa.

It’s sufficient Dharmendra Kumar, Suva

No sinner is beyond God's saving. No matter what someone has done or failed to do, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross is the sufficient atonement for our sin.

The problem is not that God cannot or will not save, but that each individual must be willing to accept the free offer of salvation provided to him.

No one who comes to Jesus in faith asking for salvation has ever been turned away.

Billy Graham once said: “I have never known a man who received Christ and regretted it.”
