God, Family Pillars of Support and Success For Tuidrakula
With God’s grace and family support, 51-year-old Litiana Tuidrakula finally graduated with a Masters of Theology in Church Ministry at the Pacific Theological College in Nasese, Suva.
Ms Tuidrakula, an ordained deaconess is married to a Methodist Church of Fiji minister.
She is from Vunivesi in Cakaudrove.
She said being a mother of four with many responsibilities is not easy for a woman studying fulltime.
However, she overcame all the obstacles through the support of her family members.
“I have struggled a lot with my studies because I had to carry out my duties at home and make time for my children, but I have made it through God’s grace and my husband’s help and support,” she said. In addressing her household chores, Ms Tuidrakula taught her children to be independent and to take care of the household in her absence.
Ms Tuidrakula hopes to continue her education if she is awarded another scholarship.
“Now I have time with my children and I will encourage them to study because I have gone through struggles and I know how important education is,” said Ms Tuidrakula. “Women who really want to continue their studies but are unable to because of financial contraints should apply for scholarships,” she added.
Ms Tuidrakula said she has done some related courses a few years ago when her husband was studying in 2004 and that inspired her to continue her education.
“If church ministers’ wives are given an opportunity like me to study on a scholarship, then they have to make good use of it.
“I strongly encourage church ministers’ wives to continue their education because they play a big role in serving others, especially women. We are also able to empower ourselves as women to stand up for ourselves,” she added. Ms Tuidrakula stands ready to serve the communities wherever the church will post her.
