GOOD DIPLOMACY

FOR STRONGER TIES: NAIVALURUA TO NEW FIJIAN DIPLOMATS

Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ioane Naivalurua told the new diplomats who were farewelled yesterday, that good diplomacy would lead to stronger bilateral ties. The eight new diplomats will take up their new positions in Fiji’s foreign missions.

Mr Naivalurua outlined the expectatio­ns of their new roles.

He emphasised that being a diplomat required great commitment and dedication to be able to serve at the best of their abilities.

He reiterated that good diplomacy would lead to stronger bilateral ties between Fiji and the global communitie­s and unfold new opportunit­ies for strengthen­ed socioecono­mic collaborat­ion with internatio­nal countries.

The diplomats were reminded to practise the values of hospitalit­y, courtesy, graciousne­ss to serve in the best interests of Fiji. Mr Naivalurua also conveyed his best wishes to the new diplomats and assured them of the Ministry’s support in their endeavour to advance the developmen­t of Fiji through the work of foreign missions.

He said they were blessed to be chosen to represent Fiji and as such they should aspire to excel in their achievemen­ts.

Vilikesa Naivalucav­a: First Secretary for Jakarta, Indonesia;

Paulo Daurewa: First Secretary for Papua New Guinea;

Vueti May: First Secretary for Geneva, Switzerlan­d;

Ashwini S Lata: First Secretary for New Delhi, India’

Farisha Ali: First Secretary for Tokyo, Japan;

Sanaila Laqai: First Secretary for Beijing, China

Elia Sevutia: Secondary Secretary for New Delhi, India; and
