Kaminieli’s 27-year wait to join regular force

This is a dream come true, said Kaminieli Laliqavoka. The 45-year-old is among 206 officers who will undergo a four-month Basic Recruit Course at the Fiji Police Academy in Nasova.

It is the second batch for this year’s police recruitmen­t.

The wait to join the regular force took Mr Laliqavoka 27 years.

and I am so thankful.”

If you are living along the SuvaNausor­i corridor then Mr Laliqavoka is not a new face to you. At the Laqere junction in Nasinu, you must have seen him at peak hours of the morning and afternoon directing traffic.

“I love what I do and all these years, I have been faithful to my job,” Mr Laliqavoka said. “Even if no one noticed me, I know that God is always there watching and he looks at the very small things that you do. Mr Laliqavoka lives at Kalabu Housing, Nasinu, with his 17-yearold son. His wife died in 2016.

He advised special police constables never to lose hope, “be faithful to your job because God will reward accordingl­y”.
