Rikiyaz Ali Wants to Build Hospitals For Fiji
The aspiring architect hopes to study in Australia and return to fulfil dreams.
Rikiyaz Ali dreams of becoming an architect and helping build hospitals here. The 18-year-old was presented the outstanding student award during the Nasinu Muslim College prizegiving ceremony yesterday. “I want to study in Australia and then come to Fiji and fulfil my dreams,” he said.
“I want to help the people of Fiji in terms of providing free hospital services.”
Rikiyaz took technical science, which he enjoyed, and has no regrets about his subject combination.
“I dedicate this award to my parents because they have always supported me,” he said.
“My parents have always understood my problems and if they could they always gave me advice, which led me in winning this award.” Rikiyaz also acknowledged the principal for being an inspiration. “Our principal is a very hardworking and dedicated woman and I want to be like her in life,” the 18-year-old said.
His mother, Shabina Bibi, said she was proud of his son’s achievement and prays that his academic success would continue.
SCHOOL DUX
Meanwhile, Abdul Muzammil Ahmed was named dux of Suva Muslim College.
The 18-year-old student acknowledged his parents for being a source of inspiration and motivation. “I grew up in poverty so I want to change my family’s life by having a white-collar job,” Abdul said. “The only reason I am studying is to support my parents.”
His mother, Shamshad Bi, said: “He worked very hard and our support was there for him all the time.” Edited by Naisa Koroi
