Contribute To National Development, Graduates Told
You must embrace the knowledge and skills you have gained to contribute to national development.
This was the message given by the Director of the National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC), Isimeli Tagicakiverata, after officiating at the NTPC Department of Hospitality and Tourism graduation ceremony at the Fiji National University (FNU), Nadi Campus on Wednesday.
Mr Tagicakiverata said the tourism industry was a key industry in Fiji because it was the biggest revenue earner which provided direct and indirect employment to thousands of people across the nation. “The skills and knowledge you have gained at NTPC will help you contribute to this important industry and it is up to you to ensure that high standards and good reputation of the industry is maintained at all times,” Mr Tagicakiverata said.
“This graduation is only the beginning and we encourage you to maintain your enthusiasm, commitment, dedication and trustworthiness in your career, because a good work ethic will take you a long way.”
He also acknowledged the families and friends present at the graduation ceremony, for their support towards the graduates. “Family support is always important and we at NTPC value this,” he said.
“Thank you for your continuing support, commitment and sacrifice because without you, our graduates would not be here today.” The Acting Head of Training, Hospitality and Tourism Department, Akash Gupta, encouraged the graduates to be confident once they are out on the field working. “You are ready, willing and more than able to grasp the torch that the department bestows upon you, you are the future and we wish you all the best,” he said.
