UNSUNG HEROES
When you are nicely tucked in on your bed at night, spare a thought for the hard-working staff at Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Co-ordination Centre (FMSRCC) in Walu Bay, Suva. Their 24-hour work is so important that they help to ensure that those who run into trouble at sea, in the air and on land are rescued. Many owe their lives to FMSRCC whose staff have to work graveyard shifts to ensure that those in distress get help as soon as possible. Right now, they must be involved in the search operation for six missing in Yasawa waters. While they work quietly at the centre, they are the unsung heroes of the search and rescue operations.
