Dratabu ready: Rabaka

The Asaeli Gunu-coached Dratabu side will be a force to be reckoned with at the Uprising Youth 7s at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka on Wednesday and Thursday. The event kicks off the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s and are in Pool Y with Kings 7s Select, Vueti Cakau and Dominion Brothers. “Our Under-19 team qualified since we finished in the quarterfin­al last year,” Coach Lasaro Rabaka said.

“We have been preparing well for this tournament and since we are the only team from Nadi, we invited players from Nawaka, Nasesevia and Dratabu to be part of the team.” The side includes the younger brother of Olympian Kitione Taliga, Kaminieli Taliga, Sailosi Nawavu Junior and New Zealandbas­ed Waisake Nakavu.

The Nailaga Under-19 team from Ba will also take part in the tournament.

The side is pooled with defending Tuva Youth, Blue Stallions and Saunivalu Youth. Team manager Ananaiasa Mocei said they have been preparing since November.

“We included three players from the Ratu Kadavulevu School U18 team and two players from Ratu Navula College’s U18 team,” he said.
