About 3000 students were assisted by the Foundation for the Education of Needy Children (FENC Fiji) this year.

FENC Fiji is a non-political, nonprofit, and voluntary organisation with a mission to provide education and related support to the underprivileged children of Fiji. It was founded in 2009.

FENC Board of Trustees chairman, Ratu Meli Vesikula said that this year they were targeting to cater for 2500 students.

“We have passed our target through the help of the community and our donors,” he said.

“We have many donors and we are grateful to all of them. Our donors pay in cash or in kind,” he said Mr Vesikula said they also provided school packs given by Bank South Pacific and had missed out on school uniforms but will start next year.

“We got help from the Government and we did a fundraising,” he added.

“It was a pleasure to work with parents and children even though it was a challenge, there was satisfaction in the end.”
