Year six student sends ‘Thank You’ text message to PM
She wishes that the PM will remain in that leadership role until she completes her tertiary level.
Aten-year-old student, Ameera Azraa Abdul, has sent Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s a text message expressing her gratitude for his free education initiative.
The Lautoka Muslim School Year Six student, got hold of Mr Bainimarama’s mobile number, to thank him for the free education which was has been of great help to her single mother who supported the family with social welfare money. In her message to Mr Bainimarama, she said: “Bula Sir, I, Ameera Azraa Abdul a Year Six student of Lautoka Muslim, whole heartily thank your back to school message . “No other PM ever sent us this message and I’m so grateful that I’m getting my education under your governance where my mum who is a single mother doesn’t worry about my school fees n text books. “Once again my heartfelt thank you sir to remind us where we as youths stand in your governance. Thank you.”

Her mother, Um Hadiba, 50, said she supported her two children through social welfare money and with kind assistance from friends and ex-school mates.
“I thank God for using people to be a source of blessing to us. I don’t have to worry about my daughter’s school uniforms, school bag, shoes and school stationery,” Mrs Hadiba said
“They were all provided by my friends and ex-school mates in Fiji and abroad. I don’t have a supportive family.
“I am also thankful to the Government for providing free education. I salute the PM and the Education Minister for implementing initiatives that help our children to achieve their dreams.
“My daughter wanted to become a dentist and she wished that the PM would remain in that leadership role until she completed her tertiary level.
“I am proud to have such a strong daughter. We have gone through a lot of struggles. We survived on $25 social welfare and $50 food voucher. “I always encourage my children that it is good to go through struggles because these experiences will make them strong.”
She said even life was not always easy for them, however the strong spirit she instilled in her children allowed them to face their challenges. The family lives at Naikabula Settlement in Lautoka.
