Head girl eyes career in journalism
High school student Nusaiba Bi aspires to become a journalist. She revealed this on Friday after being inducted as Labasa Mulsim College head girl.
The 17-year-old of Wailevu, Labasa, was surprised to be selected by the teachers.
“It is an honour to be the head girl of this school and I am confident everyone - students, teachers and prefects – can work together,” Nusaiba said.
“I like socialising and that is why I want to become a journalist.”
She is the second-eldest of four siblings and said she was proud to be the first in her family to be a head girl.
Meanwhile, the newly-inducted head boy of the school, Abu Siddiq, 18, of Bocalevu, Labasa, said he was also surprised to be given this position.
“I want to become a software engineer because I like taking up challenges,” said the second of three siblings.
“My father is a sugarcane farmer and my mother is a teacher at Tabucola Valibaar Primary School. “They have always advised me to be faithful and whatever I desire in life I will get it.
“I always dreamt to be the head boy from a very young age because I wanted to experience what it is like to lead.
“I want thank everyone for their support for helping me be where I am today.”
There are 290 students from Year 9 to Year 13 with 35 teachers and 42 prefects at the school.
