BODY AND SPIRIT

As churches come under increasing public scrutiny over their financial positions, it has been suggested in some quarters that it is not the only issue. Another issue that was raised by one church leader was the over consumption of kava and cigarette smoking. Some churches ban them, others don’t. Some argue that it boils down to individual choice and there is nothing written in the holy scriptures that specifically mention you can’t drink kava or alcohol or smoke cigarettes. But those in the opposing camp say that drinking kava and smoking are unclean and unhealthy. They contend that if they are not good for the body they are also not good for the spirit. They say the body and the spirit should be in harmony. If one is not well it will affect the other. BTL tends to agree with this argument. If people are sick, they are restricted in their movement. If they are in pain they can’t go to church and or are even unable to pray. So BTL’s verdict: Stay away from substances that can harm your body.

LIGHTS WILL HELP

The traffic jam at the junction of Rewa Street, Milverton Rd and Brown Street in Suva is a nightmare at peak hours. Surely the Suva City fathers are aware of the problem but the question is: What’s being done about it? There is a simple solution to help traffic flow a bit better. BTL suggests installing a set of traffic lights will help ease the situation..

SPOT CHECKS

It’s probably time that health inspectors in Suva conduct spot checks at some eating places in the city. One popular place frequented by a group of friends may not see this group again for a long time. The friends got a rude shock when one of them discovered a little insect that looked like a cockroach in her meal she had just ordered. You can guess what happened next. They left the place immediately.
