- Sera Begg

I AM NOT EMPLOYED, BUT I AM THANKFUL TO MY HUSBAND FOR SUPPORTING ME AND OUR FIVE CHILDREN. He continues to work hard and support us and I am blessed and grateful for that

Being a wife of a soldier is not always an easy task because the work itself can be demanding. For Sera Begg, juggling her time as mother to five children and being a shoulder to lean on for her husband, Private Muqueem Begg, is something she enjoys doing.

Private Begg was among the 169 Fijian peacekeepers who departed for Sinai on a chartered flight from the Nadi International Airport yesterday.

This is part of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) mission.

Mrs Begg said over time, she had gotten used to her husband being away from home.

“He went to Syria last year in October and came back home after two months,” she said.

“So the 50 men who came back from Syria, they have prepared them for Sinai. I am used to his travels away from home, it is an everyday thing for him because of work and I understand and fully support him.”

Mrs Begg said it had been seven years on, since he returned to Sinai.

“It is after a long time that he is going back to Sinai, it has been seven years since then,” she said.

“Even in Fiji, I mostly do everything because he is hardly at home because of work commitments and I am able to handle everything.

“They will be gone for one year and this time next year they will be back again.” Mrs Begg added she was grateful for the life of her husband.

“I am not employed, but I am thankful to my husband for supporting me and our five children. He continues to work hard and support us and I am blessed and grateful for that,” she added.
