Big Mick’s Racist ‘Analysis’ Carries No Weight

- Jyoti Pratibha Feedback: jyotip@fijisun.com.fj

Mick Beddoes ‘analysis’ which compares the ratio of ethnicity for board members for various institutions is downright racist, not to mention flawed.

It is this type of divisive, archaic thinking that breeds events like the recent terror attacks on innocent lives, among them Fijians in Christchurch.

Of course, failed politicians who use ethnicity and division to revive their defunct political careers is not something new for Fiji.

Just as many old politicians, including Beddoes, failed Fiji during their stint in the political arena, Beddoes’ sad attempt at race baiting has many logical flaws.

In his post Beddoes claimed to have run a survey on 33 organisations, but he conveniently excluded the permanent secretaries who are the heads of ministries.

He also excluded the heads of the Police, Security Forces, RFMF, Prisons and Corrections Services. Why the duplicity Mick? Is there a racist agenda behind this latest feast of lies?

One thing is clear, Mick Beddoes has piled his plate up with mistruths once again, and set out a buffet of lies for his tiny group of cognitively challenged followers to devour.

Did Mick Beddoes carry out such an analysis for the period before 2007? Was it skewed the other way, and deliberately by those in power?

Fijians are glad that appointments are done on merit and not anything else, as was practised by past Governments.

As a businessman, he should have done a comparative analysis on something more substantial and pointed out the fact that the 33 organisations he mentioned are now turning a profit and providing Government with millions of dollars of revenue.

When he was in Parliament, many of these entities had low or no profits.

If he failed to see this and decided to ‘analyse’ ethnic breakdowns instead of facts and figures, one must wonder what type of business he runs and whether these are successful.

This is 2019, who thinks like an ethno-nationalist from the 1970’s these days? Mick does. This ‘analysis’ is heavy stuff indeed. While the rest of the world moves forward, we have Mick Beddoes moving backward in time in a pathetic attempt to remain relevant in this modern and inclusive age. To make matters even worse for himself, Beddoes completely failed to mention that there are more women leaders now than ever before.

Before the sad passing of the late Dr. Jiko Luveni, we had all three positions of Speaker, Secretary to Parliament and Secretary to Cabinet as females simultaneously for the first time in our history.

More girls are now in schools, universities and important positions than ever before.

Fijians are tired of these cheap and divisive politics. We are tired of politicians who spread hate instead of unity and love.
