I will serve my country well: Private Kaveni
Leaving behind his wife, Lydia Nasilasila and two children Jonathan and Serafina, Private Kaveni said this mission would be for the glory of God, his country and his family.
Ms Nasilasila said even though the distance between them may be a painful experience, she would never stop supporting her husband.
Private Mateo Kaveni from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces says serving God, country and his family, is the purpose of his peacekeeping duties in Sinai.
This was before Private Kaveni, who is part of a 169-strong contingent of Fijian peacekeeping military officers, departed from Nadi International Airport on March 18 for a tour of duty of Sinai. Leaving behind his wife, Lydia Nasilasila and two children Jonathan and Serafina, Private Kaveni said this mission would be for the glory of God, his country and his family.
“I will serve my country well and do good for my family,” he said.
Ms Nasilsila said it was the first time that her husband would be far away from his family. “He usually goes to Suva for a week or so, but this trip he will be going to now is for a long time for me, but I am with him all the way.”
She said communicating through social media would now be something she would constantly be doing in order to speak with her husband daily. Ms Nasilasila said even though the distance between them may be a painful experience, she would never stop supporting her husband. Private Kaveni was also farewelled by his inlaws as his parents, who were in Rewa, could not make it to the airport.
