Gamel opts for Blues midfielder
Lautoka stylish midfielder Dave Radrigai is going to lead the Vodafone Fijian football team to the Tri-Nations June FIFA International Friendlies in Vanuatu.
This was confirmed by the head coach Christophe Gamel. Radrigai said he has been given a big responsibility.
“I thank the head coach for having faith in me,” he said. Radrigai told Fiji FA Media that he’s ready to take up the new role.
“I will do it with the best of my abilities. We have two tough matches ahead of us but the boys will definitely play with pride knowing that we will be flying Fiji’s flag.”
Radrigai will be assisted by veteran goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau and Ame Votoniu.
Gamel reminded the players that the tour is a build-up to the Pacific Games in July.
“It will not be easy. Both Tahiti and Vanuatu are also preparing for the Pacific Games and since this is FIFA sanctioned, these games will be contributing towards our rankings. So we have a huge task ahead of us.”
Fiji face Tahiti tomorrow and will take on Vanuatu next Monday. Both matches will kick-off at 4pm (Fiji time).
