- Edited Percy Kean WAISEA NASOKIA NADI

Celebrating World Ocean Day is a wonderful way of showing appreciation to our beautiful planet says Lil Champs Kindergarten/Daycare director Shabreen Nisha.

Lil Champs partnered with its sister

organisation Champs on Wheels (COW) and Denarau Marina for a beach clean-up to mark the event at Wailoaloa, Nadi, yesterday. “Beach clean-up is a huge excitement that our children are having from last week. It’s an opportunity and honour to help protect and conserve the Ocean,” Ms Nisha said

“Let’s work together to raise the global awareness of the challenges faced by the international community in connection with the ocean.”

She said the first five weeks of this term was based on the Ocean Lovers programme and Sustainability. “We are highlighting important ways to teach our children to save the big blue, glorious portion of the globe,” Ms Nisha said

“The problems our oceans face today aren’t going to be solved in one generation, it may find decades to rebound.

“To make a real progress; we need to install environmental stewardship of our ocean in our children. “To make a difference and support our children’s learning. Even one small rubbish, picked can make a huge difference.

Children from both organisations made creative items using materials found on the beach.

“Our motive is to bring innovative ideas on how we can work towards reduce reuse recycle using the materials we usually throw away.”
