‘Economy collapse’ talk

-

Simon Hazelman, Savusavu

The summation by opposition party leader, Sitiveni Rabuka, that Fiji faces an economic crisis is indeed appalling to say the least. Here we are with the majority focused on moving forward in trying to encourage economic growth and all Rabuka can do is to denounce our economy?

Of all people Rabuka himself collapsed the Fijian economy in 1995 and we are still paying for that disaster.

It’s easy for Rabuka to make such a statement, but it’s another thing for him to specifically explain in detail his claims. Rabuka is no economist and he is the last person to be talking about our economy to the nation.

Economic growth depends on activity as there is no development without effort. Growth means change and change involves risks.

We will struggle as we grow and we will learn and overcome.

We as a nation need to be agreeable and we need to co-operate our efforts so as to speed our way towards the goals set by the ruling FijiFirst government.

No man is an island as one seems to continuously professes to be!

The economy has collapsed in your own mind Rabuka and only you can recovery from that misconception.
