Pullman, USP sign agreement
The Pullman Nadi Bay Resort and Spa Fiji yesterday signed an agreement with the University of the South Pacific Pacific Technical and Further Education which involves hospitality students getting workplace attachments.
USP’s Deputy Vice Chancellor Education, Professor Richard Coll
said Pullman was showing its commitment towards engaging with a quality service provider for the attachment of students. “Pacific TAFE will always support training at Pullman and will provide opportunities for collaborative training for staff in the near future,” Mr Coll said.
“With this new partnership, we will be on our way to ensure that our students will gain hands-on experience from qualified and skilled mentors in the industry. “USP TAFE via this initiative will be able to evaluate and effectively identify gaps that arise through the attachment.
“The successful implementation of the mechanisms and platforms built in to this agreement, will produce work-ready graduates who we hope would be able to secure lucrative offers in the industry in due course.”
Pullman Nadi Bay Resort general manager Warwick Kahl said he fully supported idea.
“For business in the South Pacific and I am happy to work in partnership.
Mr Kahl said they had more than 2200 people call in for the interviews that were conducted before then hotel opened in March.
“It shows the interest and depth of the hospitality industry.”
“Fiji is known for its culture, service and smile and we are the perfect example of that.”
