Members of the public for the first time have the opportunity to be part of the Construction Industry Council Conference.

CIC is urging people to be part of an organised Trade Show on Thursday at Suva’s Grand Pacific Hotel. The four day conference will see more than 300 local and international delegates attending.

CIC president Gordon Jenkins said: “It should be starting off with the trade show and the public is also to attend Friday and Saturday sessions as well.”

Mr Jenkins added the conference would be focused on raising more awareness of licenses from not only financiers but builders as well. “I think that everybody agrees

that builders should be licensed from the financiers to builders and all the developers,” Mr Jenkins said.

“We need to get more reliable people doing the work and getting the standard material to produce quality constructions.

“The conference will also help educate people on the need to have skilled workers.”
