FNU college helps upskill staff members
The Fiji National University’s (FNU) College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS) are upskilling its staff members to enrich their knowledge on diagnosing Musculoskeletal trauma and pathology.
The six staff members are from the Department of Medical Imaging and Anatomy department.
The staff, among 37 other intermediate to advanced level practitioners of ultrasound imaging from Fiji and the Pacific region, are participating in a two-and-half-day Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Workshop currently underway at Pasifika Campus.
The workshop is a training course to facilitate the diagnosis of traumatic and pathological conditions related to muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints throughout the body.
Head of Department, Raymond Keshwan said the aim of the workshop was to enhance ultrasound scanning protocols, techniques and reporting in MSK ultrasound procedures.
According to Keshwan, the upskilling of staff in the world of digital transformation, especially in the field of medical imaging which was technologically driven, was important.
Dr Sue Hewlett, representing the World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB), is delivering the workshop which concludes tomorrow.
“My philosophy in all the years that I have been teaching is; you have to have your hands on and then you actually fully understand what you have to do.”
Meanwhile, Ana Aleauola who travelled from Tonga to be part of this workshop hopes to learn more about the scanning of shoulders, knees and ankles.
