Kula Fiji Link Dance Competition this year with a bigger and better display.
They are also optimistic their item can win them a category in the annual competition for secondary schools.
This was emphasised by the
Sanpreet Singh, yesterday during rehearsals in the lead up to the competition this weekend in Suva.
“It’s going to be very different compared to our performance last year and since it’s an open theme, we decided to pay tribute to Fiji Rugby by adding the and remixing the national anthem with dubstep beats,” he said.
Mr Singh said the eight-minute dance would start with snail form and robotic stunts and the inclusion of cultural dances to reflect the diverse cultures in Fiji.
“We started selecting students for the dance competition after the school’s diamond jubilee last month,” he said.
“And the students channeled their creativity by bringing new music, modifying some of the dance steps used during the jubilee celebrations and included them in our performance.”
He said 42 students would participate in the dance competition. “This is an increase compared to last year,” Mr Singh said.
“The students will continue to practise at the usual times after lunch until the end of the day, only for this week until Saturday when we will do our final rehearsal at the school before we leave for Suva.”
The Ba-based school will also feature five students art pieces at the Kula Art competition.
