Corporal Mani was on duty when the suspect allegedly entered the station and stabbed him on the back of his head and his back with a small kitchen knife. Prosecutor from the Office of the

Director of Public Prosecutions Sujata Lodhia told the court that the State had liaised with a doctor at the remand centre and the doctor had confirmed that the accused was a under medications.

She presented a letter written by the doctor seeking an order for the accused to be examined by a doctor from the Saint Giles Hospital.

He said the court had nothing to do with the remand prisoners being taken to the hospitals.

The matter was adjourned for mention to August 13.
