Cuvu ‘back stronger’
It will be a repeat of the 2018 Vodafone Deans Under-18 final when defending champions Ratu Kadavulevu School meets Cuvu College in the second semifinal at Lawaqa Park, Sigatokla this Saturday.
The two met in the Deans final last year where RKS thumped Cuvu 20-0 at the ANZ Stadium.
The question now is can the Sigatoka based school create upset and march into the final next Saturday. While many are predicting an upset, Cuvu head coach Josateki Tuituba said they need to step up their performance from last week’s game against Nasinu.
Cuvu walloped Nasinu 46-13 scoring eight tries during the quarterfinal.
“One factor that cotributed to the win was our defence and I thank the boys for that,”Tuituba said. “We will regroup, sort out our weaknesses and come back stronger this week.
“We ask our supporters to come in numbers to support us.”
Cuvu will definitely have home crowd advantage and its development
programme under Nadroga Rugby Union will boost the team. Meanwhile, Ratu Kadavulevu School had a lucky escape in the quarterfinal match against Latter Day Saints College with a 13-6 win. Assistant principal Walesi Soqoiwasa said their focus is to maintain their winning momentum.
“We are not only focussing on one grade but every grade to achieve their target,” Soqoiwasa said.
In the first U18 semifinal will see Queen Victoria School takes on Marist Brothers High School.
