Rematch set for Oct 26
The rematch between Joseph Kwadjo and Savenaca Naliva is scheduled for October 26 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi. Dubbed ‘Revenge of the Bad Blood’, the fight is sanctioned by Boxing Commission Fiji and will be put together by South Pacific Boxing Promotions.
The duo first fought at the same venue on February 9 which was stopped in the 6th round by the referee due to the ring being slippery and unsafe for the fight to continue. But even before the fight was stopped, a brawl erupted in the fourth round which included officials from Kwadjo and Naliva’s camp.
At one stage during the fight Kwadjo was fighting barefoot.
The light heavyweight title fight was declared a no contest.
Ghanaian boxer Kwadjo was excited for the rematch as he prepares to deliver his best.
“I’m aware fans are looking forward to this fight and I will be ready for it,”Kwadjo said.
“I will try my best to deliver a good fight come October 26. We are fully prepared to bring the title home to Suva.”
Naliva thanked South Pacific Boxing Promotion for hosting the fight. I thank Team Kwadjo for agreeing for a rematch, “Naliva said Promoter Freddy Chand confirmed the duo will fight for the lightweight title.
“This is the most awaited fight of the year and it was not completed as scheduled early this year.
“It will be sorted out by October 26. Both boxers will be signing to fight in the 80kg category.”
