Tehran: Iranian women are continuing to share videos of themselves taking off their headscarves in public, despite authorities threatening 10 years in jail for doing so.

Masih Alinejad, 42, a self-exiled Iranian journalist now based in New York, started a social media campaign in 2014 encouraging women in Iran to share selfportraits without the Islamic veil, which she then shares on her Facebook page, ‘My Stealthy Freedom’.

She said supporters of the movement had continued to send her pictures and videos after Tehran’s Revolutionary Court said on Monday that they could face up to 10 years in prison.
