It was a proud moment for Chauhan Memorial School in Veisari when it officially opened its first newly-built staff quarters on Wednesday afternoon. Head teacher Shalen Nagaiya said the school has been succeeding over the years with the support of the hardworking management board and its visionary leaders. “The main focus of this project was to provide accommodation to those teachers who come from far and also there will be someone to look after the property after hours,” Mr Nagaiya said.

“The school has progressed very well in terms of teaching and learning, resource management, environment and its safety and infrastructure developments in line with Governments’ policy,” he said.

The school is looking to build more classrooms to cater students, a multipurpose court, upgrade sports facilities and more staff quarters.

The school was established in the year 1955 by late Mr and Mrs Ram Ashre Chauhan and the duplex staff quarters were proudly funded by their youngest daughter Satrekha Chauhan.

School manager Sundeep Roy thanked the Chauhan family, Ministry of Education and the Management Board for funding the project and all those who have supported one way or the other.

Also, the school is currently managed by the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha Fiji – Rewa Branch.
