Naitasiri delegation bound for San Francisco
Adelegation from the Naitasiri Provincial Council will be visiting the people of Naitasiri living in San
Francisco in the United States of America (USA).
The Roko Tui Naitasiri, Ifereimi Corerega, confirmed this yesterday.
“We’re leaving for San Francisco on August 15,” he said.
This trip, he said was approved at the last meeting of the Naitasiri Provincial Council meeting at Matailobau Village.
Mr Corerega said the delegation would brief them on the developments in the province.
He said they would also be taking details on all those who had not been registered in the Natïve Land Register (Vola Ni Kawa Bula). This information would be given to the Native Lands Commission for their registration. The people of Naitasiri in San Francisco, he said had been helping the province, which includes an investment of $45,000 on scholarships for students at the University of the South Pacific (USP).
At the Naitasiri Provincial Council meeting at Matailobau, Waima District, chief Ratu Timoci Rokobukete was chosen to be part of the delegation to represent the 16 districts chiefs of the province.
Ratu Timoci, when contacted yesterday, said he was honoured to be chosen by the council and looking forward to the experience.
