Naitasiri del­e­ga­tion bound for San Fran­cisco

Adel­e­ga­tion from the Naitasiri Provin­cial Coun­cil will be vis­it­ing the peo­ple of Naitasiri liv­ing in San

Fran­cisco in the United States of Amer­ica (USA).

The Roko Tui Naitasiri, Ifer­eimi Cor­erega, con­firmed this yes­ter­day.

“We’re leav­ing for San Fran­cisco on Au­gust 15,” he said.

This trip, he said was ap­proved at the last meet­ing of the Naitasiri Provin­cial Coun­cil meet­ing at Matai­lobau Vil­lage.

Mr Cor­erega said the del­e­ga­tion would brief them on the de­vel­op­ments in the prov­ince.

He said they would also be tak­ing de­tails on all those who had not been reg­is­tered in the Natïve Land Reg­is­ter (Vola Ni Kawa Bula). This in­for­ma­tion would be given to the Na­tive Lands Com­mis­sion for their regis­tra­tion. The peo­ple of Naitasiri in San Fran­cisco, he said had been help­ing the prov­ince, which in­cludes an in­vest­ment of $45,000 on schol­ar­ships for stu­dents at the Univer­sity of the South Pa­cific (USP).

At the Naitasiri Provin­cial Coun­cil meet­ing at Matai­lobau, Waima Dis­trict, chief Ratu Ti­moci Rokobukete was cho­sen to be part of the del­e­ga­tion to rep­re­sent the 16 dis­tricts chiefs of the prov­ince.

Ratu Ti­moci, when con­tacted yes­ter­day, said he was hon­oured to be cho­sen by the coun­cil and look­ing for­ward to the ex­pe­ri­ence.
