The Dux of the Advanced Prosecution Course 2019, Constable Leone Vurukania has dedicated his award to all Police officers. Mr Vurukania, who is originally from Wailotua in Wainibuka, Tailevu, said he did not expect to get the Dux award.

He has been a Police officer for the past 15 years and is based at the crime branch at Nadi Police Station. “This six weeks course will help in regard to investigation, how to obtain evidence, reliability and admissibility of evidence,” he said.

“It was all about positive mindset, discipline, commitment and consistency.”

Mr Vurukania said the course also taught him about building a case, procedures of prosecution, conduct in court, fair trial and rights of the accused person.

“I didn’t expect to get the Dux award. This is the first time that I have received an award and I guess it was through my commitment and hard work.

“I thank the Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde and the Commissioner of Police BrigadierGeneral Sitiveni Qiliho for the course.

“This award is dedicated to all the men and women of the Fiji Police Force who are on the frontline,” said Mr Vurukania.
