10 STU­DENTS IN AL­LEGED DE­FILE­MENT CASE

Ten stu­dents of a sec­ondary school in the Nas­inu area have been caution in­ter­viewed and re­leased for al­legedly de­fil­ing a fel­low stu­dent.

The al­leged in­ci­dents oc­curred some­time be­tween May and June this year.

The com­plainant is a Year 10 stu­dent and the al­leged in­ci­dent came to light when one of the teach­ers heard ru­mours and she was re­ferred to the prin­ci­pal. The 10 sus­pects, aged be­tween 16 and 19 years, are al­leged to have com­mit­ted the of­fence on three dif­fer­ent oc­ca­sions at the school premises. The mat­ter was re­ported to Po­lice and the sus­pects in­ter­viewed and re­leased.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion file will be sent to the Of­fice of the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Prose­cu­tions once com­pleted.
