PM heaps praise on Tuvalu for being excellent hosts
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has praised the Tuvalu Government for the excellent work of hosting the 50th Pacific Islands Forum meeting in Funafuti,Tuvalu this week. And he promised Tuvaluans that: “This fight against climate change does not stop here, we are going to make sure that the leaders take this fight to the UN this year.”

Mr Bainimarama was impressed with how smoothly events, negotiations, bilateral talks and dialogue forums were conducted.
“The people of Tuvalu had really gone out of their way to prepare for delegates and basically everyone who came for the 50th Pacific Islands Forum meeting,” he said. “They have been hospitable, the food was lovely and the smiles on children’s faces were one in a million.”
Prime Minister Bainimarama said that “right from the start, we have been determined that Fiji’s efforts be not only on behalf of ourselves but every climate-vulnerable person in our region.
“Tuvalu’s leadership of the climate struggle and the particular vulnerability of your nation was recognized back in May when the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, came to Tuvalu and noticed your challenges.
PM Bainimarama is expected to be in Australia later this year to continue talks with Prime Minister Scott Morrison on the effects of climate change.
