NZ remains leading destination for Australian travellers
New Zealand remained the most popular overseas destination for Australian travellers while China was the biggest source of visitors to Australia. According to data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on Thursday, Australians made about 1.4 million short-term trips - defined as less than one year in length - to New Zealand in financial year 2018-19.
China was the biggest source country to Australia, with more than 1.4 million visitors nationally. China was also the fifth most visited country by Australians. Indonesia was the second most popular destination for Australians, followed by the United States and the United Kingdom (UK).
