NZ re­mains lead­ing des­ti­na­tion for Aus­tralian trav­ellers

New Zealand re­mained the most pop­u­lar over­seas des­ti­na­tion for Aus­tralian trav­ellers while China was the big­gest source of vis­i­tors to Aus­tralia. Ac­cord­ing to data re­leased by the Aus­tralian Bureau of Statis­tics (ABS) on Thurs­day, Aus­tralians made about 1.4 mil­lion short-term trips - de­fined as less than one year in length - to New Zealand in fi­nan­cial year 2018-19.

China was the big­gest source coun­try to Aus­tralia, with more than 1.4 mil­lion vis­i­tors na­tion­ally. China was also the fifth most vis­ited coun­try by Aus­tralians. In­done­sia was the sec­ond most pop­u­lar des­ti­na­tion for Aus­tralians, fol­lowed by the United States and the United King­dom (UK).
