Tourism Fiji Proud to Support the Ocean Swim Fiji Event this Month
Tourism Fiji is pleased to support the Ocean Swim Fiji event that will take place from 22 to the 26 of this month. The event is proudly supported through Tourism Fiji’s Marquee Event Fund (MEF), which aims to develop more events in Fiji that attract international visitors to our shores.
Ocean Swim Fiji Event Director, Scott Rice said this year’s event has attracted close to 200 participants which includes new and returning competitors from last year.

He also revealed that the event will feature a very special guest; Australian Olympic Gold medalist and swimming legend, Shane Gould.
She is the only female swimmer to win five individual medals in a single Olympics.
“This event was created initially to raise awareness on the importance of water safety and helping to reduce the number of Fijians that die from drowning each year. “We’re so thankful to the support from partners like Tourism Fiji who have made the event a reality and we’re incredibly excited about it,” said Mr. Rice. Following a similar format as last year, registered participants choose between one kilometre or three kilometre swims across three different locations: ■Tivua Island,
■Natado●a Beach and ■Ma●ama●a Beach Club. There’s also an optional free day for participants to spend experiencing a village visit or trying out the thermal Sabeto Mud Pools. Tourism Fiji chief executive Matthew Stoeckel said: “The event was a booming success last year and is a great way for us to bring new visitors to Fiji and showcase some of the incredible tourism products we have here in Fiji. “We’re extremely excited to welcome Ocean Swim participants to Fiji again this year and look forward to another successful event.” Around a third of registered swimmers for this year’s event are returnees from last year and the team are excited to watch the growth of the event in 2019.
