A crane operator is concerned with what he claims is confusion created by the Land Transport Authority on the registration of lefthand drive cranes.

On Call Cranes (Fiji) Ltd’s managing director Rahmat Ali has written to the authority to express his concern on the matter.

“The LTA stopped registering lefthand drive vehicles last year and these included cranes as well,” he said.

“I wanted to buy a 25-tonne crane from an Asian company in Suva about a month ago but since it was left-hand drive, I didn’t buy it because we can’t register it. “However, I was told by a LTA officer that a company bought the left-hand drive crane and got it registered, somehow.”

LTA’s communications officer Ritesh Kumar said the authority would not comment on the matter.
