Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry New Logo and eGate Website Launch on Monday
In terms of the eGate website, Mr Fareed said the Chamber is moving towards a cashless society so they want their members to experience a convenient and secure electronic payment system if they want to attend an event.
The Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) will be launching its new logo and eGate website next Monday.
Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Premila Kumar will be the chief guest, and the launch will take place at Suva’s Grand Pacific Hotel. Chamber vice president and Fijian Holdings Limited Group chief executive officer Nouzab Fareed said: “Internationally we represented what is known as Fiji Chamber which looks after the interest of the private sector.”
The Chamber has being in existence for more than 35 years, so they thought its time up to change the logo.
“We had changed the logo once in the past, but now with the changes happening in the business world you can’t be having the same logo every day,” he said.
He said for some in business they change their logo and rebrand after every 20 years.
“So for us we rebranded 10 years ago and added the word industry.” Mr Fareed said they are changing the logo to represent the modern, current, and global business environment they are in now.
“We want to represent what the private sector is all about. Private sector is the engine of growth in any country. We want to represent a private sector which is modern, and has state of art technology.
“Fiji has got some fantastic manufacturing process. If you visit a biscuit or a cardboard factory they invest millions of robotic technologies that are already there, even though we have never seen it. So we are modern actually, and globally a lot of new
industries are coming now which are colourful and young industries.”
He said that’s why they used a lot of colours on their new logo. “Things are changing. We are changing the outlook which is visible with our new logo. It also says young energetic, it also says sky is the limit, when the red colour is used it talks about labour. There are other colours being used which represents automation and robotics technology.
“It’s all represented in the logo, it has gone through several revision before we come to the final logo. The final one is colourful,” he said.

Meanwhile, during the launch, the three main regulators Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, Consumer Council of Fiji and Fiji Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) and its heads will share not only what they do and what their laws says, but what happened in the past 12 to 24 months and their experience.
Mr Fareed said: “This includes sharing some real case studies and what are the lessons to learn from it.
“We need to be practical, we can’t just be sitting and saying there is a law like this and a law like that, this company was fined. This is not fair so these regulators need to tell the truth. “Our members need to know that this company breached this law and this is punishment they get.
“We want them to be real, authentic and talk about the experiences and the purpose is not to shame anyone but to tell the truth. We have to accept our mistakes, we can’t just sit and wait.”
The Chamber is expecting 150 people from private sectors to attend this event.

In terms of the eGate website, Mr Fareed said the Chamber is moving towards a cashless society so they want their members to experience a convenient and secure electronic payment system if they want to attend an event. “We don’t want people to use cash in the future so we introduced this new payment system.
“If people want to attend the Chamber’s events, we want them to pay conveniently through a credit card to get through the electronic gate, that’s the eGate website.”
He said the website is online now and members can make payments to attend the upcoming launch.
“If someone wants to come and attend the seminar from Nadi, they can just go to the website pay the fee get the clearance and attend it.”
Investment
He said there’s extensive investment made for these projects. The seminar is sponsored by Fijian Holding Unit Trust and ANZ Bank.
Future plan for FCCI
Before the end of the year the Chamber is planning to have another programme to get more interaction between the government agencies and the private sectors.
“It is very important that private sectors should get the opportunity to talk to Government agencies and vice versa.
“What is more important for the economic growth of this country is that Government agencies should come and listen to us.”
He said it seems it has been a one way communication.
“We have a lot of things to reform in this country, and its very important FCCC should listen to the public.”
He added collaboration, discussion, and dialogue are very important, and these are the things that run the country.
